PART 1
Wow I had passed my common entrance 581/600. I passed with merit!
I could go to any school I choose too or so I thought! I wanted to go to Queens’ College or Ijanikin
I had heard so much about them.
I had my first meeting with my parents at the common entrance examination board; the schools I wanted were all filled. The best alternative was to pick a school in my state. That’s how my sojourn to Federal Government Girls’ College Owerri started.
What’s my own?! I was happy! I was going to a BOARDING school! Away from home! Start my own life at 8yrs. Fresh out of primary school! Heck my mates were still in primary school and won’t be doing secondary school for another year or two. It wasn’t long we came back from Jerusalem. Everything was new and strange and different but what did i care i was home free.
My Uniforms were made, I had the Light blue blouse and the navy blue pinafore, I was put in blue house so I had my blue check house dress and my Sunday outfit of white blouse and blue skirt. I had my white socks, my under garments, my beret, my mattress, my cupboard, my 10ltrs bucket and 10litres blue keg, I had my cutlass, and my broom. I had my bed sheets, towels, cutleries, provisions and beverages. Everything I had my mum had made sure they were labelled boldly with my name. Even if they got lost I could find them. I was armed to the teeth with everything possible a young student would need going to secondary for the first time. Nicely packed suitcase! I was ecstatic.
I had been booked on the Ekene Dilichukwu luxurious bus leaving Lagos and handed over to some seniors who would made sure I got settled in. My pocket money of N500 in 2 envelops was given to them to be given to my school guardians in case I needed anything.
What could I possibly need?
We left early and got to the school in the evening. I was taken to my hostel. My registration completed. I was given a bunk; I unpacked and looked forward to making friends in my new life.
My new life? Here’s where the story actually begins! Lo it was going to be very eventful!
